Labor’s Only Hope
In all nations, in all times, the one resource of the weak and the oppressed has been to organize. Their organization gives them strength, where once was weakness; it gives them freedom where once was slavery. For more than a century the lesson has been preached to workingmen and women. Some have learned it well. Others are still learning. But did you ever considered, you workingmen who are organized, that organization- intelligent organization- is more than a mere banding together? That it carries with it strict adherence to rules or laws and obedience to lawfully constituted authority- discipline? Did it ever occur to you that organization becomes effective only as its force is intelligently directed and it units act in complete harmony with the directing power? Just think it over and apply your deductions in the conduct of your local union.
